Headquartered in Germany, cab Produkttechnik GmbH & Co KG is Neumann Marking Solutions newest supplier. I had planned a holiday that took me within about an hour of their administration offices in Karlsruhe, Germany so I thought why not go and visit while I’m in the neighborhood. Let’s build a relationship. A quick call to Jeff Kennedy in cab’s USA Division in Tyngsboro, Massachusetts is all it took to get me an invite.
So I headed out one fine morning to go to Karlsruhe from Alsace in France. After about 15 minutes of my journey, I found myself in very heavy traffic, my progress slowing to a crawl making me worried I’d be late for my appointment. Luckily the GPS in my rental car was on duty. It made some very timely re-routing suggestions and got me onto a fast German autobahn. After reaching speeds of 200 kph, which was both fun and legal, I started to breathe a sigh of relief that I would make my appointment after all.
What struck me about this is that the GPS equipment in the rental car was high quality and very functional. It was precise in getting me out of slow traffic as soon as possible and onto the very fast autobahn. I want one of those really good GPS systems in my car in Edmonton!
When I arrived at cab’s offices I was warmly met by Steffen Lüdemann, International Sales, Label Printing Systems and Guido Denninger, Distribution, Label Printing Systems. Steffen was sporting a big cast and crutches; seems he likes to play basketball. Guido was injury free.
After a bit of lite conversation, Steffen made the comment that he’d been on neumannmarking.com in preparation for our meeting and commented that he really liked that we had a lot of YouTube videos showing our products and how to use them. He indicated that this is something they do a lot of at cab.de too. I felt we were off to a good start with similar views on how to do business and keep our audiences educated.
Then both Guido and Steffen gave me a nice overview of cab’s current line-up of printers and a discussion about cab’s philosophy around producing printers. In a nut shell, they want to build high quality, precision, functional label printers—just like the GPS in my rented car I thought to myself. A unique quality of the cab A4+M desktop printer is that it can print on round (un-flattened) shrink tube. This is important for a couple of reasons:
- Round (un-flattened) shrink tube is much less expensive than flattened shrink tube.
- Round shrink tube is much easier to install over the wire. No need to squeeze it open or use a screwdriver to pop it open thus making the process much faster. Time is money as the ole adage goes!
Neumann Marking Systems (NMS) sees a big advantage in these cab printers to panel builders (for more info on panel shop printers, check out this page) and other high volume users of shrink tubes and we are very pleased to be carrying them. I was also pleased to hear cab’s goal is to make the best printer possible, not just the best printer necessary.
