The core of this solution is the A4+M desktop industrial printer from cab Produkttechnik. Consider this printer the “Mercedes” of label printers – German engineering, outstanding build quality. At 9kg with all components mounted in a die-cast aluminum housing, this unit is solid.
The print ribbon holders accept wind-up or wind-down ribbons so you are not locked in to one brand or style.
Placing the media on the media holder was as simple as turning the key to the left to unlock, sliding your material on, and turning the key to the right to lock. Threading the media under the ribbon and print head and out thru the cutter assembly was a joy. A straight path!
An optional perforation cutter provides a full cut for conventional labels or a perforated cut for thicker material like heat shrink tube. The perforated cut worked very well keeping our legends connected until we gently pulled them apart for installing.
Conventional flat shrink tube prints very well but is an inconvenience for the installer to open prior to installing. (Where is that screwdriver?) The A4+M prints on round or ridged tubing and will perforate cut the tube between the legends. You end up with a string of legends, but a gentle tug and you have your legend ready to slide over the wire. Installers around the world will cry with joy to have a round heat shrink tube ready to install. Setting the media guides to direct the narrow heat shrink tube takes seconds. No fussing with tiny wheels or knobs.
