In covering all the latest identification products news, we find that June is National Safety Month, as promoted by the US-based National Safety Council. Identification products manufacturers such as Brady and K-Sun feature many safety related products and their social media feeds are rich with safety-related posts. We are behind any program that promotes safety awareness, but the purpose of this post is to draw some well-deserved attention to Canada’s own national safety organization; the Canada Safety Council.
Canada Safety Council is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to the safety of Canadians. Formed in 1968 from a merger of three national safety associations, they provide a single source for safety education, information and resources to help keep us safe at home, on the road, and in the workplace. These folks truly stand on guard for us.
We particularly appreciate their social media pages: Facebook and Twitter. They post many interesting and useful articles from just about every safety-related resource found online. From CBC news stories to Consumer Reports articles, these folks have it covered. Even a casual glance at this stuff could save your life someday! Having their posts appear in your social media feeds is like having a gentle reminder of what is important to you and your loved ones, amongst all those cute cat videos and daredevil stunts that normally occupy our social media accounts.
As a society, we can take safety for granted at times. We hear of accidents and think it can never happen to us. This may be what those that have lost a loved one in an accident or had their house burn down once said. It is comforting to know that education and the resources are there for lessening the risk of these emergencies happening in our busy lives. Hats off to the Canada Safety Council and the work they do.
Safety first!
